Eating Disorder Therapy

Eating Disorder Therapy

Eating disorders are serious mental health conditions that impact emotional, physical, and social well-being. They can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or body type. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to recovery.

Eating disorders are complex, serious mental health conditions that can deeply affect an individual’s emotional, physical, and social well-being. Eating disorders  do not discriminate; people of all ages, genders, races, sexualities, and body types can experience these disorders. Oftentimes, eating disorders begin during adolescence, but these conditions can appear at any stage of life. Early diagnosis and intervention are vital for improved outcomes and maximizing the chances of full recovery.

Compassionate and Specialized Care
Dr. Diana, a licensed psychologist, provides specialized treatment for individuals struggling with eating disorders and related mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and body image issues. She utilizes evidence-based treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Her integrative, individualized, compassionate approach helps clients develop healthier relationships with food, body image, and emotional regulation. To ensure the highest quality of care, Dr. Diana coordinates closely with other providers, including physicians, psychiatrists, registered dietitians, school counselors, and family members when appropriate. Her goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where clients can thrive and move toward lasting recovery.

Family-Based Treatments (FBT) for Adolescents
In addition to individual therapy,  Dr. Diana offers Family-Based Treatment (FBT), also known as the Maudsley Approach, for children and adolescents with eating disorders. FBT is an intensive outpatient treatment proven to be highly effective and is recognized as a first-line intervention for children and adolescents. The structured three-phase program empowers parents to take an active role in their child’s recovery. This active role includes restoring regular eating habits, addressing compulsive or restrictive behavior, and slowly returning control over eating to the child as progress is made in the recovery process. This family centered approach strengthens the family unit, reinforces healthy communication, and provides essential  support for lasting change
